Weather Themed Songs

Why Is Music Important In Early Development?

Exposing young friends to music is an amazing way of building gross motor skills as they learn to dance and bounce around. They are also building vocabulary as they are learning to pronounce words and understand their meaning. That’s cognitive development. Music can even help to improve memory. What do we do when we hear the Clean Up Song?

Weather Themed Songs

When it comes to finding songs about the Weather, it is easy to find so many good ones on the internet. What I like to do for my toddlers is print out which songs we are learning to sing that week. I might laminate them for extra support because I swear toddlers are better than ninjas. One second artwork is perfectly taped on the wall, and the next thing you know, they’re being super helpful, throwing the art in the trash. I use painter’s tape after laminating the printed lyrics and tape it onto the wall. It’s nice to have it at their eye level so they can get a feel for what reading words looks like.

Materials:

  • Printer
  • Laminator
  • Painter’s Tape
  • Toddlers Grow Music Lyrics
  • Musical Instruments
  • Smart Device (optional)

Warn anyone else who might be next door or in another part of the house, things are about to get loud! Ask your smart device to play the song you printed out. Once your children all have musical instruments, it’s time to Rock N Roll.

When learning with the help of music, it’s important that children aren’t forced to dance if they are not ready to. Part of gross motor development comes from self-esteem and confidence. It’s okay to start off shy and take some time before getting the courage to dance in front of other people. When was the last time you danced in front of a room filled with your peers?
